IRENA Invites Participation in Corporate Sourcing of Renewables Surveys

Corporate sourcing of renewable energy has grown at a rapid pace as companies have turned to purchasing renewable energy in order to power and supply their own operations. In response to the high corporate interest in sourcing renewable energy, the Clean Energy Ministerial launched a Corporate Sourcing of Renewables campaign at the Seventh Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM7). In support of the campaign, the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) has launched an initiative which aims at supporting companies to continue and accelerate their procurement of renewable energy. IRENA is currently developing the first global reference index on voluntary corporate renewable energy sourcing for all end-uses - the REmade Index Report. The report will highlight global corporate sourcing trends and options, and provide policy recommendations to further boost the corporate sourcing of renewables. The main objective is to also capture countries where corporate sourcing efforts are still in their infancy, but show promising potential and to analyse renewable energy procurement by different industry sectors and scales.

To ensure that companies’ experience is captured in the report and show the global true potential of corporate sourcing of renewables, companies large and small around the world are invited to participate in the Corporate Survey and share information on their company’s renewable energy targets and strategy, energy and electricity consumption levels, main drivers and barriers for sourcing renewable energy. By participating in the survey, companies will be acknowledged in the REmade Index Report for its contribution and effort in sourcing renewable energy.

Please do not hesitate to contact the IRENA Secretariat at coalition@irena.org for further enquiries. Deadline for submission is Friday, 29 September 2017.
